Truro School – Andrew Gordon-Brown, Headmaster
Truro School is Cornwall’s leading day and boarding independent school, catering for boys and girls from 3 to 18.
“Our mission is to be a beacon of inclusive excellence developing confident, tolerant and enthusiastic young people who enjoy working with others and are ready to influence the world. The mothers and fathers of around 1000 children have entrusted us to ensure that their sons and daughters get the best possible education. We offer high levels of academic study combined with a broad range of co-curricular opportunities, celebrating both cultural and sporting achievement. Truro School is a place characterised by constructive and trusting relationships, a place where talented and dedicated teachers accompany pupils as individuals on this leg of their journey.” Andrew Gordon-Brown, Truro School Headmaster.
Truro Prep is situated in its own grounds next to the county’s hospital on the west side of the city with an onsite swimming pool and sports field. Willday House is the Pre-Prep department with children from the Nursery to Year 2 and has its own play area and Forest School with an outdoor classroom. Our 8-11 year olds move across to the main Prep School and enjoy specialist classrooms for teaching as well as a large play area.
Truro School is across the city on the east side with a large campus accommodating: a swimming pool, bespoke Gallery and Theatre, extensive sports field including an AstroTurf and the new Sir Ben Ainslie Sports Centre which is one the largest in the county.
There are approximately 240 pupils in the Prep School and 760 in the Senior School with 200 of those in the Sixth Form. Our results in GCSE and A Level are consistently high, and in 2014 we were reported as being the best A Level provider in the county.
