Ginsters - Shaun Galloway

The Ginsters’ family one Christmas hit upon an idea that changed the course of history - they converted their egg-packing barn in Callington, Cornwall into a small bakery and started making delicious, authentic, hand-made Cornish Pasties.  The Samworth Brothers acquired Ginsters in the late ‘70s but to this day, Ginsters Original Cornish Pasty is still based on that very first recipe.  From such humble beginnings, a business was created that today produces over three million savoury pastries a week from the Lynher bakery in Callington, Cornwall.
Today, Ginsters is the Number 1 brand in savoury pastry and the leading sandwich brand and since 2005, the Ginsters brand has grown by over 53%.  From pasties, pies, slices, sausage rolls, pork pies, sandwiches, wraps, paninis, toasties and salads – Ginsters has a product for every occasion - hot or cold.  Our continued success and growth is good news for our employees, the local economy and the community in which we operate.

The importance of provenance is at the heart of what we do and the majority of our meat and vegetables are sourced within a 10 mile radius of our bakery from a handful of farmers whom we have worked with for many years.

The company employs over 800 people in the U.K., with over 600 people based at the Callington site making the company one of the largest private sector employers in Cornwall.
Many of our employees live within a 30 mile radius of the site and contribute to the local economy through their day-to-day spending and leisure time activities.

Ginsters has a long and proud history of giving something back to the communities in which it operates.  Ginsters supports several local and national charities including; CHICKS (Country Holidays for Inner City Kids) which provides week long respite breaks for disadvantaged children from across the U.K. in Brentor, Devon, Shekinah Mission in Plymouth which supports individuals who are homeless, socially excluded, victims of substance misuse or ex-offenders, The Prince's Countryside Fund which is a collaboration of businesses who work together to secure a sustainable future for British agriculture and the wider rural economy and Royal Voluntary Service (RVS) - one of the largest volunteer organisations who help older people to lead full and active lives.   Many of our employees give up their spare time to support a variety of charitable causes in the local community.
